Civil construction design, from calculation to bill of quantities
One qualification in this faculty, and it is the most technical thing AGIT teaches: RII60520, the Advanced Diploma of Civil Construction Design.
What you learn to actually do
The qualification is built around producing the documents a civil project runs on. Design analysis and calculations. Estimation. Surveying. Detailed drawings. Technical specifications. Bills of quantities.
Five of the twelve units are management rather than drafting — program risk, team effectiveness, safe design under work health and safety law, quality systems, negotiation. That is deliberate. Civil design work at this level is done inside a project structure, and the paperwork around a design is as much of the job as the design.
- Duration
- 104 weeks — 80 weeks of scheduled study and 24 weeks of breaks.
- Units
- 12 total — 5 core and 7 elective.
- Entry
- 18 or over. IELTS 6.0 or equivalent. Year 12 equivalent in your home country, or a qualification taught in English for at least twelve months. LLN assessment before enrolment.

- Bachelor-level civil engineering and related programs at CRICOS-approved higher education providers.
